Neil Harland Bergstrom
April 8, 1916 - January 31, 2010
Neil Harland Bergstrom, 93, passed away with his family at his side on Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Sandpoint Idaho. A celebration of Neil’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint with Pastor Dave Olson officiating.

Neil was born on April 8, 1916 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Carl and Selma Bergstrom. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1934. Neil married Cora Berry on March 31, 1938. During World War ll Neil moved his family to Bremerton WA where he worked in the shipyards. After the war he moved to Seattle, WA where he worked for Seaboard Lumber Company as a filer and millwright until his retirement in 1981. Neil returned to Sandpoint after retirement.

Neil was a member of First Lutheran Church and a life member of Sandpoint Elk’s Lodge #1376. He was an avid golfer and played several days a week until he was 91 years old. The time he spent with his golf buddies was very special to him. His love of golf continued until his passing. Neil loved his family and time spent with any one of them was precious to him. He enjoyed his garden and working on projects in his workshop.

His parents, Carl and Selma; wife Cora; one son Richard; one sister Caroline and one brother John preceded Neil in death.

He leaves behind his daughters and their husbands, Karla and Fred Darnell (Sandpoint, ID), Bonnie and Jim Cummings (Seattle, WA), daughter in law Vicki Bergstrom (Federal Way, WA), sister Jean Hadley (Sandpoint), nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
