The Hutchens Family
Our thoughts and our prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
Betty was such a special person and we thank you for sharing "Grandma" with us.
She always loved to talk about her kids and grandkids - you were all obviously her greatest pride in life.
Let us know if you need anything. May your memories and the knowledge that Betty is in the loving arms of God and at peace give you comfort.
All our love,
The Hutchens Family

Im sorry I cant be here in person today to help say goodbye to Betty although we did say goodbye many many years ago. We had been high school sweethearts, two teenagers in love doing all the fun times with the gang at the local malt shop, fun groups of us going to the beach. San Diego High School in those days was a happy place to not only learn but also a place of many school activities. I remember how proud I always was at the school dances and especially at our senior Prom. She was always the sweetest, cutest and prettiest girl in the hall it was one of the happiest and most fun time of my life but like so many teen love affair after graduation we went our separate ways. I into the Army she into marriage. Years later while she was in Southern California visiting relatives, she met some of her old high school girl friends and some how my name come up, they found my name in the phone book and dared her to give me a call, she did. We brought each other up to date on whats been happening in our lives and remembering the happy times when we were young. Well one thing led to the other and I finally got to meet Doug and Barbara and over the years my wife Ramona and I have enjoyed getting to know them and have become close to them and feel like we are part of the family. So dear Betty, thank you for the sweet memories and go with God.

Betty was a special person and I know that she loved all of her kids and aunts and uncles. I remember fond times going to her house as a youth. Your mom always treated me kindly and always had a big smile when I saw her. I know that she will be missed but never forgotten. Betty Jean is in the hands of the lord now and feels no pain
and will continue to live in the hearts of those that love her.

Although we knew Betty for only a short time, we could tell the love she shared for her family was deep. We will mostly remember the times that she would come and watch her grandsons play baseball. We were all blessed to have known her. May she rest in peace now that she is home.

Dear Mom,
My heart is filled with sadness and disbelief. There are many things I could say about you here today but the most important thing is thank you
for my life
for always being there anytime I needed you (usually without question)
for supporting me and sticking up for me even when I was wrong
for saying "I Love You" every time I saw you.
for the laughter and bringing smiles to my face and for the smiles to come when I think about you.
for giving me a bag full of groceries every time I came
home to visit
for fried chicken and cube steak with gravy with rice
for teaching me to be kind, loving, generous and polite
for being my biggest fan
for protecting me
for allowing me to be a kid and to just have fun
for allowing me the honor and privilege of caring for you
for showing me you’re not perfect and even the best make mistakes
for your unconditional love
I am blessed to have been able to be part of you, to have known you and to have been loved by you.
I can’t wait until the day we meet again. Until then, I know you’ll be watching over us all.
I will forever love you and forever miss you.
Your son,
Hans

The day I met her at Hans house, I knew she was a woman of great pride and exceptional love for her family. She was very easy going and nothing seemed to surprise her. But then again after meeting all of her sons, I realized why nothing surprised her. She was a very understanding soul and the twinkle in her always reminded me that the love she shared with all the people she met was true, authentic and that part of her was God that shined through her. She was a wonderful woman, mother and friend to so many. She will truly be missed.
Greg Gibson.

Grandma Betty, you were such a fun and vibrant person to grow up around and I have wonderful memories that are never forgotten. Always full of hugs and smiles. Watching Mt. St. Helens rumble and vent from your deck. The amazing things you found at estate and yard sales. Your kindness and generosity. The beautiful flower arrangements you did for my wedding, especially the orchid bridal bouquet. Miss you. I'm glad you're at peace now in your new heavenly home.

I was honored to know Betty through my uncle Tom, her late husband. We had lots of fun visits with them. I am so sorry for her loss, but she is at peace and has probably found a casino in heaven! Bless your family, Hans, you did a wonderful job caring for her and loving her all the way!
